Thinking of spring...

I've added some new items to my Etsy shop, including a set of 5 Easter note cards, a set of 4 bluebird note cards, and a 5" x 7" print of the "Live Joyfully" image from a few posts ago. I hope you like them! Happy Leap day!

Snow White Re-do

After poor planning, some impulsive painting decisions, a not quite right composition, and much teeth grinding and fist shaking, I decided that my first version of Snow White just wasn't working as well as I wanted it too.

I realized that while I do want to keep up with the project I've assigned myself, the point isn't just to finish 12 fairytale illustrations, but to finish them well, or at least to learn something along the way. So, I started over.

Here's the new drawing, partially inked. Hopefully I'll still have it finished before the 1st of March.

*Note to self, rushing through a project almost always results in fist shaking.

Smitten Kitten

Here's a little kitty, heading out to do a bit of shopping.

The husband and I did a bit of shopping on our trip to California. Although, it was mostly window shopping. (Our big purchases were socks for $3.50, two fancy cupcakes, and some sunscreen). Despite blowing out two tires in our rental car while lost in east L.A., we had a really nice vacation. Hanging out with our niece and nephew at Disneyland is pretty much the greatest thing ever. And watching sand pipers run around on the beach was also highly enjoyable.

The Fisherman

I hope you're having a cheerier day than this poor fellow. I'm feeling quite cheery today, as tomorrow morning my husband and I are heading to California where we will stroll on the beach, go to art museums, eat some good food, and celebrate our niece's fifth birthday (and Valentine's Day) at Disneyland. I'm sure a good time will be had by all. I hope you have a good weekend too!
