2012 Fairytale Project: January

Here's my first illustration for the 2012 Fairytale Project. January, check!

I must admit that it didn't turn out quite how I envisioned it. At the suggestion of my critique group I'm going to darken the background on the left and I'm not quite sure if its finished besides that. But it was fun to draw a new kind of character and to wrestle with the shadow under the bridge (which I think I might have to wrestle with some more).

For February... Snow White.

  4. Love it, read this to boys tonight, it's one of their faves...I would love to see what your goats look like?.....the gruesome bones are a great touch, and the crosswords are genius.

  5. He looks great- I love it how you've portrayed him as a friendly troll and 'humanised' him a bit by giving him a smart outfit and adding framed pictures + crosswords in his little bridge home. Oh hold on, I just realized there's also bones! Hmm well he's got to eat! :D

  9. Oh, I LOVE this troll! He looks so sweet & contemplative. I'm a big fan of self-motivated projects like this, especially ones that push you outside your comfort zone as an artist. I'm excited to see your other interpretations! :)
